Iconic Composer Mug: Joseph Bologne
Composer Joseph Bologne, also known as the Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745–1799), was among the 18th century’s most extraordinary musical figures. Born in Guadeloupe of French and African descent, he rose to fame in his lifetime among the European aristocracy as a virtuoso violinist, composer, and conductor; and was noted as one of the greatest swordsmen of his day and led numerous military campaigns as a high-ranking officer. Bologne's mastery is only now beginning to be appreciated in Western Classical music by today's audiences. WFMT celebrates the musical icon on our brand new 12oz mug, with a vibrant design by Chicago artist David Lee Csicsko.
