Yunchan Lim: Tchaikovsky The Seasons CD
When Yunchan Lim became the youngest ever winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2022 at the age of 18, he began a meteoric rise to worldwide fame. Now he presents a live recording of The Seasons, one of Tchaikovsky’s most intimate piano works. Lim views the twelve pieces not just in the classical series of months - but as a story describing the last year of a person's life. Each piece reflects a different moment or feeling, from sadness and quiet thoughts to joy, love and peace. "I have resolved to live my life only for the sake of music, and I have decided to give up everything for music, " says Lim. "I want my music to become deeper, and if this desire reaches the audience, I will be happy."
