John Rutter: Reflections CD
Born in 1945, Sir John Rutter — one of Britain’s most beloved, respected, and performed composers — is internationally acclaimed as a master of choral music. To celebrate his 80th birthday, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra presents a survey of Rutter's purely orchestral music conducted by the composer himself. Celebrated Scottish pianist Steven Osborne is featured in the premiere recording of Reflections, a concerto in four movements, and the concertante Elegy, for piano and orchestra. This fascinating overview of the lesser-known Rutter also includes the vibrant three-movement suite Cityscapaes (2020), the breezy Celebration Overture (2023), and the charming Four Miniatures, originally composed for solo guitar and arranged for orchestra in 2021.
