Thibaut Garcia, Antoine Morinière: JS Bach: Goldberg Variations CD
Guitarists Thibaut Garcia and Antoine Morinère offer a fresh take on Bach’s masterpiece Goldberg Variations. Conceived for a harpsichord with two manuals, the Goldberg Variations are a monument of the solo keyboard repertoire. Now they can be heard in Garcia and Morinière’s arrangement for two guitars — the result of a full year of work during which they focused on preserving the illusion of a single performer. The performance dazzles not only for the lightness and transparency of the arrangement, but for the sheer depth of intellectual and psychological preparation that went into it.
