Elexa Dawson: Stay Put CD
Potawatomi singer songwriter Elexa Dawson entwines indigenous sounds in songs as contemporary as today’s headlines. Stay Put, released in September 2025, has already hit the Top 10 on the Folk Alliance International album chart. Now based in Kansas, the native Oklahoman writes about home, roots and elements of Mother Earth. The album opens with a choric version of “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” with native-style percussion. Songs range from the traditional “Riddle Song” recorded a capella among real birdsong, to “Baling Hay” honoring her tractor-driving Grandpa. Elexa shared some of these songs in her August 2025 Folkstage appearance.
