Lucie Horsch: The Brüggen Project CD

Dutch virtuoso Lucie Horsch celebrates the legacy of recorder player Frans Brüggen. A pioneer of the early music revival, Brüggen amassed a remarkable collection of historic recorders of the same vintage as the works by Bach, Handel, Telemann, and others on this program. Having fallen silent upon Brüggen’s death in 2014, the rare instruments have been revived for this recording with permission from Brüggen’s widow. The instruments are so fragile that at times Lucie was only allowed to play two takes on them. “The end result could almost be regarded as a live recording.”
